Installation Tips and Tricks

You’ve designed your pieces at home. Now, you need to get them to your venue. Preparation is key, so make sure you have a plan for where the installation is going, and where you are plan to move it after the ceremony. Designate this task to someone you trust and provide them with instructions, mockups and venue contact information. Make sure this person is not in your wedding party (or close family).

Packing your Install

  • If you have multiple pieces, label them

  • Include notes so it's clear how to install them at your venue

  • It's also helpful if you include photos of your mock install so they can mimic the look

  • Don't forget to make sure you clearly define what side is the top

  • Include notes for any additional instructions

  • Provide a contact for any questions

Recommendations

  • A ladder or step stool: if your hanging pieces or decorating an arch you will need this! To save you some space and effort, check with the venue as they often have these and many are willing to lend them to you.

  • Nails, command hooks, fishing line, zip ties for hanging and suspending.

  • A broom, a rake or vacuum depending on your venue flooring.

  • Flower foam: if your adding in fresh flowers.

  • Pillars or stands: a modern way to incorporate height difference.

  • Mixed media material: add visual interest with fabrics, textural elements and lighting.

P.S.

Installs take time. Give yourself double the time you think you need at the venue and account for unpacking, installing, touchups, additions, takedown, cleanup and breaks (recommended 4-6hrs)
